Restaurants across Illinois and the nation are aiding in the disaster relief efforts in countless ways, including hosting disaster relief events in their venues, donating proceeds from special menu items and offering free desserts to those with proof of having donated blood.

On Oct. 11, restaurants across the nation will unite in their relief efforts to host Dine For America. On this day, participating restaurants will donate all or a portion of their proceeds and collect donations for the American Red Cross Disaster Relief Fund. Dine For America is a group of restaurants, their employees and guests working together to help the victims and families of Sept. 11.

In America, this is no time to hide. Those behind this unthinkable tragedy would like nothing better than to see the U.S. economy tumble as a result of their hideous actions. Airlines, hotels and restaurants are, unfortunately, at the front lines of this attack on our economy. Canceled conventions, business trips and vacations are crippling the hospitality industry.

We have been urged to get back to “business as usual” as much as possible. We strongly encourage Americans to dine out as a way to sustain the economy and demonstrate their patriotism.

Your generosity will make a meaningful difference to the victims, their families and other emerging needs arising out of the Sept. 11 disaster. Your actions will prove that this is no time to hide. Information is available at www.dineforamerica.com.
