William Glen Kuntz, 74, of Arlington Heights, formerly of Park Ridge, died of complications from lung cancer surgery, Monday, Sept. 24, 2001 at Northwest Community Hospital. Mr. Kuntz graduated from Monmouth College in 1949, married Jane Warnecke, and began a 40 year career with the YMCA, which included many community outreach programs and the construction and opening of the New City Y on North Avenue in Chicago. Although retired 12 years, Mr. Kuntz remained actively involved in the community surrounding New City Y, the organization of retired Y workers, and his recent home community of Luther Village in Arlington Heights. Mr. Kuntz exuded energy and optimism in life and was a source of strength to those around him. He is survived by wife Jane Warnecke; daughter Donna (Michael) Weston, son, Robert (Lynn); grandchildren, Christy and Jeffrey Weston, Jacob Kuntz; brother Duane (Marie), and sister Hazel (Alan) Wiese. Mr. Kuntz was registered with the Anatomical Gift Association of Illinois. A memorial service will be held on Sunday, Sept. 30, 2001, at the Luther Village Wittenberg Center. Visitation at 2:30 p.m. followed by a service at 3 p.m. and then refreshments.
