Fred ” Fritz” Gill Nierhoff, age 77, passed away on September 23, 2001, surrounded by his family. He was born in Park Falls, WI and raised in Elmhurst, IL. He spent WWII in a bomber as a gunner and saw extensive action in the European theatre. After returning home his only comment on the war “I won the lottery”. He played football and graduated from Elmhurst College. He started his career and retired from Shell Oil. Then starteda second successful career, working over 20 years with D. A. Stuart Co. He is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Virginia “Ginny”; a devoted father to Ruth, Helen, Gill, Robert and Mary; 16 loving grandchildren; two greatgrandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews. Also survived by his brother Bill and sisters Mary and Renee. An avid fisherman and storyteller, he was deeply dedicated to both family and friends. A memorial service will be held at Mary Queen of Heaven Church in Elmhurst on October 1, 2001 at 10a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Mary Queen of Heaven Catholic Church in Elmhurst.
