Thank you for publishing Marda Dunsky’s thoughtful piece on the Mideast. Although nothing justifies the atrocities committed in New York and Washington, there are reasons why Arabs are angry at U.S. foreign policy.
Towering above all else is the unstinting U.S. support of Israel, no matter how oppressive its practices.
There is an opportunity now not just to end the violence but to resolve this conflict once and for all.
The U.S. has to insist that both sides apply international resolutions that call for an Israeli withdrawal to the 1967 borders and for Israel’s right to live within secure borders to be recognized.
