The 53rd Annual Primetime Emmy Awards will be telecast from both Los Angeles and New York, in a concession to those stars still leery of traveling after Sept. 11’s terrorists attacks.
It had been widely reported that the casts of HBO’s “The Sopranos” and “Sex and the City,” up for several awards, including best drama and comedy, respectively, might not attend the Oct. 7 ceremony in L.A.’s Shrine Auditorium. The Academy of Television Arts & Sciences will now have nominees and presenters take part from the New York studios where NBC’s “Late Night with Conan O’Brien” is taped. The telecast will air at 7 p.m. on WBBM-Ch. 2.
