I am a born-and-raised South Sider. I root for the White Sox and whoever plays the Cubs.
On Sept. 28, I was flipping channels and came across the beginning of the Cubs-Astros game. I sat, as bagpipes played, and watched Chicago police officers, firefighters and Red Cross workers, the 1st graders saying “The Pledge Of Allegiance,” Joe Girardi speaking and Wayne Messmer singing.
It was a wonderful tribute to the victims of the terrorist attacks, to the heroes and to America.
From a Sox fan:
Good job, Cubs.
