Geneva aldermen recently approved hiring an afternoon crossing guard at Geneva Drive and East Side Drive.
A study showed that more schoolchildren cross the street there in the afternoon than in the morning, when they may get rides to school. The number of students in that area has grown in recent years due to new housing developments.
Parents have asked for a crossing guard for some time.
