I’m selfish. I want my last memory of Michael Jordan to be hitting that final shot of Game 6 at Utah, clinching the Bulls’ sixth and last NBA title in the Jordan era. The perfect ending to a fairy-tale career that even now seems too good to be true.
But then I enter reality. It’s not my decision, it’s Michael’s. He’s a big boy and can make his own decisions and do what he wants. Should I really be surprised? Michael has always done it his way. And why is he coming back? The money? Definitely not–it’s going to the families in need in New York. More titles? One look at the Wizards’ roster and you can dismiss that.
Michael is coming back for the love of the game. And what’s more beautiful than that?
