Former Texas Tech basketball coach James Dickey will get $125,000 as part of a settlement for his dismissal in March that made way for Bob Knight to take over the Red Raiders.

The settlement comes in addition to a $1.3 million buyout of Dickey’s contract after being fired from the school.

Dickey, who was coach since 1991, was replaced by Knight despite having three years left on his contract.

The payment releases Tech and Dickey from all claims between the two that “currently exist or may exist in the future” related to his employment, according to a notarized document obtained by the Lubbock Avalanche-Journal in Texas.
