Beatrice Brodsky, 86, died October 9 of pneumonia. Mrs Brodsky was a long time Hyde Park resident, community and political activist and partner with her late husband, Max, in the family business, Lith-O-Roll Chicago. Growing up in Brooklyn NY, she was a Mezzo-Soprano with the New York Metropolitan Opera and the Brooklyn Academy of Music. She also served as a buyer for Abraham and Strauss and other garment establishments. She was known as an avid and accomplished Scrabble player. She is survived by her son Aaron (Diane nee Gray) of Hyde Park and daughter Sarah (fiance Norman Sieman) of Newton, MA; sister Sylvia Fischer of Hyde Park; and grandchildren Emily, Stephen and Jonathan Gray; and many nieces and nephews. Family will be receiving visitors Thursday Oct 11, 5 to 9 p.m. and Saturday Oct 13, 5 to 9 p.m. at 1310 E. Madison Park, Chicago.
