At a time when so many of us are struggling to understand recent events, it is frustrating to see the front page so often dominated by empty rhetoric and bland, unanalyzed facts. On the other hand, your Perspective sections on recent Sundays (Sept. 23 and Sept. 30) have been exemplary in presenting a range of thoughtful responses and even a poem that does justice to the ambiguity of how we feel as we stand “with weapons in our hands and a lump in our throats,” as Camus wrote of his generation 50 years ago. Thank you for showing that you are also committed to providing a forum for intelligent reflection.
