John “Jack” Rodgers, 75, of Mesa, AZ, died Oct. 19, 2001, at Valley Lutheran Hospital, in Mesa, after a brief illness in connection with complications from colon cancer. He was born Aug. 20, 1926 in Chicago, IL. He was a WWII Veteran with the 47th Infantry Scout Dog Platoon and a current member of The American Legion Post 26 in Mesa. He grew up in Chicago and attended Saint Nicholas Elementary School and Saint Phillip’s High School. He graduated from the University of WisconsinMilwaukee with a Bachelor’s of Science degree in economics. He retired to Arizona in 1992 to be near his children. He is survived by his companion, Edna Grubisa; his children Mike (Wendy) Rodgers, Anne (Dave) Taylor and Tom Rodgers. He lived his life to the fullest, until the end. Jack loved to travel and recently made a trip to Vancouver, even though he had been battling cancer for nearly two years. He died peacefully with his loved ones at his bedside. There will be no services as he will be cremated and his remains scattered at his favorite scenic view on the Mogollon Rim, AZ.
