The Hoffman Estates Village Board has approved the final site plan and subdivision plat for the Canterbury Fields townhouse development.
Located north of Shoe Factory Road and west of Beverly Road on the western edge of the northwestern suburb, the development will have 271 homes in seven on-street buildings and 48 courtyard buildings. Prices will start around $220,000.
The developers, Ryland Homes and Shoe Factory Road LLC, will donate 10 acres to the Hoffman Estates Park District, which plans to build a ball field.
Also, trustees meeting as the Public Health and Safety Committee late last month briefly discussed the possibility of banning overnight parking on village streets.
In response to a letter from a resident requesting a ban, the village reviewed the matter and presented the findings to trustees.
Because narrow and short driveways are prevalent throughout the village, many people have little choice but to park on the street, Police Chief Clint Herdegen said.
