Mary J. Kratzer, 89, California, MO, passed away Monday, Nov. 12, 2001 at her home in California, MO. She was born Dec. 30, 1911 in Clay County, MO, the daughter of Elmer William and Clara Otillie Mueller Argo who preceded her death. She was married Oct. 7, 1936 in Kansas City, MO, to Wilbur C. Kratzer who passed away Sept. 1, 1999. She was a secretary for Southwestern Bell Phone Company; a homemaker and a Republic Voting Judge for Cook County, Illinois and for Moniteau County. She was a member of Salem United Church of Christ southeast of California, MO, former member of California United Church of Christ where she served a 2 year term as president of the Women’s Guild and a former member of St. Peters United Church of Christ in Skokie, IL where she served a 2 year term as president of the Women’s Guild and as a financial secretary. She graduated from Manual High School in Kansas City, MO. Survivors include two daughters, Carolyn (James) Berghoefer of Denver, CO, and Kathy (Ron) Riemer Ron of Chicago, IL; three grandchildren, Chuck Berghoefer, Cheryl Harmel and Mark Berghoefer; and four greatgrandchildren, Jen and Kathy Harmel, Kayln and Jack Berghoefer. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Roy and Leo Argo. There will be no visitation. Burial and graveside service will be 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 17, 2001 in Rohrbach Cemetery north of California, MO. Memorial services will be 3 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 17, 2001 at Salem United Church of Christ southeast of California, MO. Officiating will be Rev. Gary Schulte.
