City officials this week unveiled a proposed $43 million budget for 2002, which would include allocations for two major road projects.
The budget represents an increase of about 20 percent over last year’s $35 million budget, said Finance Director Mark Nannini.
“It wouldn’t be this high if it weren’t for the road projects,” he said.
About $6.5 million will be spent on a road to a new Meijer department store near Algonquin and Golf Roads, while $2.5 million will improve crumbling Rohlwing Road.
Budget workshops will continue during the next few weeks.
A public hearing on the proposal is set for Nov. 27. The City Council will discuss the spending plan Dec. 11.
