Now that we in the 847 area code will have to dial an area code with every call we make, why do we have to dial 1 first? We didn’t have to start dialing 1 until it was needed to signal the phone system that we were about to dial an area code. If every call starts with an area code, the 1 is unnecessary. Let’s at least save one digit on every call.
