General Motors said Rudy Schlais, president of GM Asia Pacific, will retire May 1 and be replaced on Jan. 1 by Frederick Henderson, president of GM Latin America, Africa and Mid-east. Maureen Kempston Darkes, president of GM of Canada, Ltd., will replace Henderson and also join GM’s Automotive Strategy Board. Darkes will be replaced by Michael Grimaldi, GM vice president and general manager of field sales, service and parts for North America and before that one of the architects of GM’s new family of full-size trucks and SUVs. John Smith, GM vice president in charge of the Service Parts Operations and previously general manager of Cadillac, will replace Grimaldi.
