Amtrak has finished extending the Kentucky Cardinal route to Louisville and now offers daily service from Chicago. Trains depart Union Station at 7:45 p.m. CST and arrive in Louisville at 7:30 a.m. EST the next day. On the return trip, trains depart Louisville at 9:20 p.m. EST and arrive in Chicago at 8:37 a.m. CST. The Cardinal also makes stops in the Indiana cities of Dyer, Rensselaer, Lafayette, Crawfordsville, Indianapolis and Jeffersonville.
