Blackhawks GM Mike Smith explains, “The better year we’re having, the less chance there is of us trading Tony [Amonte],” suggesting that–what, their success is an accident? (Tribune, Jan. 8). This ownership-induced gem of management philosophy explains why for years the Hawks have stunk, and why with current ownership they will never be a top team.

Bill Wirtz is more than willing to charge premium prices but unwilling to provide a premium product. His ownership and interest in the fans is pathetic, and has been for a long while.
