I, like most of America, have been impressed by the incredible leadership demonstrated by our president at this critical time (“Pitfalls await popular Bush in Year 2,” News, Jan 13.). Bush has proven to be a wise leader in the war on terrorism.

I am a little disturbed, however, by media pundits and liberal politicians who say our national crisis has “changed” Bush. We’re being led to believe that pre-Sept. 11, he was a weak and flaky executive, and a man without a mission. Then, suddenly, George W. Bush became smart, emboldened and full of purpose. President Bush was always this type of a man, it’s just that biased thinking on the part of his critics has been proven wrong.
