The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has opened an investigation of Volvo 610/660/770 series trucks. The investigation covers sleeper berth fires and steering problems and comes in response to a petition submitted by the Owner-Operators Independent Drivers Association. If through an investigation NHTSA believes a vehicle defect exists, it can pursue a recall.
