A Chicago consulting firm has outlined plans for a 9-acre downtown redevelopment district.

Aldermen heard recommendations Monday from Camiros Inc. for a district that would be bounded River Road, Pearson, Miner, Lee and Mannheim and Jefferson Streets.

Richard Wilson of Camiros said the addition of a 42,000-square-foot grocery store would spark construction in the district of three more buildings with retail and condominium space. Aldermen took no action but generally praised the plan. The project would face several City Council votes before approval, officials said.
