Michael C. Downes, 22, a former resident of Naperville and Joliet who had recently returned to the area, was found dead Saturday, Jan. 26, in the Fox River in Carpentersville. Mr. Downes had been missing since Nov. 23. An inquest is pending. Born in Joliet, Mr. Downes attended Waubonsie Valley High School in Naperville and De LaSalle High School in Chicago. He was a former employee of Franciscan Brothers at San Miguel Center in Chicago and worked as a telemarketer in Salt Lake City. Mr. Downes had recently returned to the Cary area to start a management position with a shipping and receiving company. He also had plans to enlist in the Navy. Survivors include his mother, Linda Harms; a sister, Andrea; his stepmother, Sandy; and a grandmother, Rose. Services will be held at 4 p.m. Friday in Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 1310 Shepherd Drive, Naperville.
