A Jan. 22 Tribune Sports headline declared: “Bears hope to bottle 2001 formula.” Why?

According to my recollection, the team’s pitiful offense embarrassed the entire city in the highly predictable and inevitable loss to the Eagles. Rather than bottling playoff defeats, emphasis should be placed on developing a system that can actually win the important games.

All season long the Bears’ coaching staff declared fans should not judge the offense by its dismal statistics but rather by the end results. Under this analysis, doesn’t a disgraceful loss prove that offense needs major reconstructive surgery?
