Is this true that Jamal Crawford is ahead of schedule on his rehabilitation (Tribune, Jan. 29)? Am I the only person who is excited by this? Why? Well, bear with me, but imagine this for a second.
Chicago Bulls, year 2005. Crawford is charging downcourt showing his excellent ball-handling skills for a man his height. On the wing is the ever-improving Ron Artest. On the other wing is Eddie Robinson, ready to use his excellent athletic ability to excite the crowd with a windmill dunk. Running downcourt a little behind Robinson is Tyson Chandler, who has grown to be the player the Bulls organization always knew he could be when they traded Elton Brand for his rights. Bringing up the rear is Eddy Curry, who has grown from being a man-child to a man. Ready to dunk home the ball on a rebound in case any funny stuff happens during the fast break.
Yes, I know. What’s the chance of all this happening? Barring injury, egos and being able to function as a cohesive, unselfish unit, this looks like it could a dangerous unit for years to come in the NBA. Is it silly for me to be slightly excited by this lineup? Is this wishful thinking gone insane? Am I a complete idiot for thinking this could ever happen?
Yep, that’s it, the last one.
