Until four years ago, Arthur Bauman, 94, of Elgin, was still indulging in his favorite pastimes of driving his car and bowling. His son, Jon, said his father at one time belonged to several local bowling leagues. “He liked to stay active,” he said. Mr. Bauman died of congestive heart failure Saturday, Feb. 2, in his home. He was born and raised in East Dundee. In 1932 he married his wife, Vera, now deceased, and spent more than 44 years as a shipping clerk at Shedd Bartusch Foods in Elgin. Before he retired in the late 1960s, he was a sanitation inspector for the company. Visitation will be held from noon to 1 p.m. Tuesday in Laird Funeral Home, 310 S. State St. Elgin. Services will follow.
