Getting your Trinity Audio player ready...
I am requesting that the Tribune print the entire text of major speeches, like the president’s State of the Union address last week.
American readers are intelligent and interested enough to read an entire speech and derive their own conclusions about the contents. Once again, the Tribune includes only portions of the speech, cut up across two pages, while the space and focus is on journalists’ interpretations of what was important.
The idea of Americans reading the speech and forming their own opinions is hardly a bizarre or novel idea. The New York Times has been printing complete texts of important speeches for years.
