When you run an editorial in two years bemoaning the shortage of qualified school superintendents in Illinois, bring out the editorial condemning their salaries (“Illinois’ $92 million luxury,” Editorial, Feb. 4).

You mentioned Bannockburn as an example of a small district with an expensive superintendent. You did not mention that the superintendent functioned as the district’s sole administrator, and consequently his salary represented the district’s total administrative cost. This year we added a principal, and with the reduction in duties we cut the superintendent’s salary substantially.
