HIGHLAND PARK — Yes, I agree with Julia Keller (“People who knead people,” Jan. 31) that the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Philadelphia Eagles should have been playing for the Super Bowl. I am originally from Pittsburgh and also lived near Philadelphia; this was the dream game.

Pittsburgh and Philadelphia don’t get to play for any championship game in anything, except for football — if they get that far. NHL Stanley Cup has both teams in the same division and have never in the past nor under the present structure played for the Stanley Cup in the Finals; yes, of course, in the playoffs, but there is no actual cup involved.

MLB World Series? Again, both are in the National League and could not in the past nor under the present structure play in the World Series; yes, of course, if they had a one-game playoff if they were tied to get into the playoffs, but no actual banner/cup/award there either. Philly has NBA but Pittsburgh has none.

Getting back to football, we never met in the past, we even were co-joined at the hip during World War II due to shortages of players for the war. So football was and is (unless something changes) our only chance to meet each other for some meaningful championship series, with the winner being the overall champion of that sport.

Oh, well. Some other year I guess.
