Elizabeth E. Mueller, 73, of Mt. Prospect, a retired Wal-Mart sales assistant, died of lung cancer Saturday, Jan. 5, in Lafayette, Ind., where she was staying with her sister. Mrs. Mueller was raised in Chicago and graduated from North Park Academy. After attending the University of Illinois, Mrs. Mueller went to Gregg Business School in Chicago and graduated in the late 1940s. She married her late husband, Charles, in 1949 and was a homemaker. She worked occasionally as a clerical assistant and after her husband died in 1982, she worked as a secretary at Alliant Foodservice, a food products distributor. Mrs. Mueller worked in the company’s billing and credit department until 1995. For the following three years, she worked as a greeter, cashier and sales assistant at Wal-Mart in Mt. Prospect. “She loved working there,” said her sister, Mary Ezra. “She was very artistic and very organized. If someone put something out of order, she would put it back.” A resident of Mt. Prospect for more than 50 years, Mrs. Mueller enjoyed crafts and sewing curtains, drapes and clothing. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday in St. John Episcopal Church, 200 N. Main St., Mt. Prospect.
