John P. Hoffmann “Big Johns”, age 72, of Wildwood, IL, died Feb. 6, 2002, at Condell Medical Center in Libertyville. He was born Jan. 4, 1930, in Chicago, IL. He was an avid farmer and gardener. He owned and operated “Big Johns” vegetable stand in Mundelein for 27 years. He was a Veteran of the U.S. Army and belonged to St. Paul the Apostle Church. He retired from Bell and Gossett after 35 years of service in 1995. He is survived by his beloved wife, Mary Rita, of 50 years; loving father of Theresa (John) Hintz, Catherine (Gary) Pribyl, Mary Louise Hoffmann-Sullivan, Susan (Carlos) Hernandez, Thomas Hoffmann and Judith (Thomas) Nuetzmann; dear grandfather of Dustin, David, Rachel, Ryan, Andrew, Rebekah, Renee, Alisa, Britney, Christine, Peter, Michelle and Jonathan; great-grandfather of Natalie; two sisters, Helen (Lawrence) Masek and Ruth (Edwin) Raetzman; one brother, William (Arlene) Hoffmann; preceded in death by sister, Caroline. Funeral Mass will be 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 9, at St. Paul the Apostle Church, 6401 Gages Lake Rd., Gurnee. Interment All Saints Cemetery, Des Plaines. Visitation 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at the Marsh Funeral Home of Gurnee, 305 Cemetery Rd., Gurnee, IL, and Saturday from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home. 847-336-0127.
