Edith K. Hansen, 91, a longtime resident of Elk Grove Village, died Wednesday, Feb. 6, in Alexian Brothers Hospice House in Elk Grove Village. Born and raised in Chicago, Mrs. Hansen graduated from Schurz High School in 1928. She married in 1935. Mrs. Hansen spent most of her career working as an administrative assistant. In the early 1950s Mrs. Hansen began working at the Chicago Dryer Co., a manufacturer of commercial laundry equipment. She then worked as an administrative assistant for the Illinois Department of Revenue in Chicago for about 10 years. After she retired in the late 1960s, Mrs. Hansen spent her spare time reading and gardening. “She was very family-oriented,” said her daughter, Joyce Eannarino. Other survivors include her husband, John; a son, Bruce; two sisters, Shirley Grand and Virginia Long; six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in Grove Memorial Chapel, 1199 S. Arlington Heights Rd., Elk Grove Village.
