Joan M. Scully, 66, of Elk Grove Village died of emphysema Friday, Feb. 8, in Alexian Brothers Medical Center. Born in Chicago, Mrs. Scully graduated from Alvernia High School and married in 1953. A homemaker, Mrs. Scully raised six children on her own after her husband, John, died in 1968. She worked in the office of a sewer construction company based in Norridge until 1997. “She was a very strong person,” said her daughter Sue Tullo. “She was where we got our strength from. She was always there for us.” Mrs. Scully is also survived by two more daughters, Laurie Baldino and Juli Anne; three sons, Tim, John and Raymond; 12 grandchildren; and a great-granddaughter. A mass will be said at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday in Divine Savior Catholic Church, 7740 W. Montrose Ave., Norridge.
