ELGIN

The Provena St. Joseph Hospital Auxiliary is offering $1,000 scholarships based on scholastic standing and need to students who live in the hospital’s service area who plan to pursue medical or paramedical careers. Applications, available in high school guidance departments, must be returned to the department by March 1, and to the auxiliary by March 15.

PROSPECT HEIGHTS

Dollars for Scholars is offering five $1,000 scholarships to residents who will be attending a two- or four-year college or technical or trade school in the 2002-03 school year. One scholarship is designated for a finance major. Applicants must have been admitted to a post-secondary institution; demonstrate financial need; have a minimum GPA of 3.9 on a 5.0 scale; and show community and school involvement. Applications are available in the counseling offices at Hersey, Wheeling and St. Viator High Schools, Harper College and the Prospect Heights and Indian Trails Libraries. Deadline is March 15. The student council of Longfellow School, 501 S. Arlington Heights Rd., Buffalo Grove, is sponsoring Rainbow of Wishes, a fundraiser to benefit the Make-a-Wish Foundation. A blood drive will be held from 7:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Thursday in the gymnasium at Buffalo Grove High School, 1100 W. Dundee Rd. Appointments are recommended, but walk–ins are welcome.
