Margaret Solon McSweeney, 74, of Hilton Head Island, SC, died on Feb. 11 at her home with family by her side. Born Aug. 8, 1927 in Indianapolis, IN, she is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 52 years, John D. McSweeney, who had cared for her since a debilitating stroke in June of 1990; six children and spouses, John and Dell McSweeney of Worcester, VT, Diane and Jerry Allen of Reston, VA, Joanne and Michael Cingari of Coto de Caza, CA, Daniel and Pat McSweeney of Newtown, CT, Catherine and Jose Tremul of Manassas, VA and Mary and Jay Conklin of Herndon, VA; a sister, Joan Barry of Chicago; and 13 grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her granddaughter, Mykalah McSweeney; her parents, Ignatious Joseph and Catherine McCartin Solon; her sisters, Rosemary and Catherine; and brother, Joseph. “Peggy” will be dearly missed by her family and by all whose lives she touched. Services will be private. Family requests no flowers. The Island Funeral Home and Crematory is in charge of arrangements.
