Marie Schwemin, 81, Oct. 3, 1920 – Feb. 11, 2002. Marie was born Oct. 3, 1920, the middle child of George and Barbara, nee Cserny, Unterlander. She married George Edward Schwemin, the youngest child of Andrew and Jenny, nee Salesky, on June 29, 1940 and together they raised three children. She was a devout member of St. Matthias Church, had many friends and interests (including bowling) but her focus was always her family. Her dream was to see her children grow to be responsible, successful, happy adults. That dream came true and her joys were only beginning. Soon Marie had grandchildren. She watched them grow, attended their graduations from Nursery School through College and was an honored guest at their weddings. She took her first airplane trip and held her first great-grandchild in her arms. Then, Alzheimer’s claimed her final six years. Marie was preceded in death by her husband, George on Feb. 18, 1989. She is survived by her brother, George (Marcia) Unterlander and her sister, Betty (Carl) Sagmeister; as well as nieces, nephews, and friends. She is further survived by her children, Susan (Brian) Allman, George (Sandra) Schwemin and Marie Schwemin; her grandchildren, Jeffrey (Jean) Catenazzo, Joanne (Christopher) Viehman, Carrie (Joseph) Vazzano, Scott Schwemin, Jeremy Schwemin and Amanda Schwemin; and her great-grandchildren, Brittni Viehman, Jason Viehman and Brooke Viehman. Marie has now taken her memories and joined her husband in a better place where the years stolen by Alzheimer’s will be shown to her as she learns that Carrie married Joe, two more grandchildren are college graduates, and Joanne and Chris have given her a great-grandson and a second great-granddaughter.
