I am a 39-year-old white married man with two small boys living in Elmhurst. I was born into a strong Catholic family and attended Catholic school. Due to my professional life, we have lived in five major U.S. cities and have worshiped in a wide variety of Christian faith communities.
I have faithfully attended St. Sabina for more than three years and have been intimately involved with a number of the highly publicized outreach efforts, including sharing the Gospel with prostitutes, street ministries to the homeless and the protest at the Harvey drug paraphernalia store. My family and I have also been involved with the St. Sabina Social Services, which provide resources and love to brothers and sisters in need.
I appreciate the perception the uninformed public has of Michael Pfleger and, yes, he is a lighting rod within the Catholic Church. But to know Father Mike is to love and respect him. I have personally never met a more faithful, spiritual man than Father Mike and I thank God for bringing him into my family’s life. He has provided a true witness of what the church should stand for–influencing culture and loving the disenfranchised.
