A symphony of morning bird song comes free with this playfully decorated, 78-year-old Victorian frame house at 28 S. Prairie Ave. in Mundelein. The eight-room, two-story house, built in 1923 on a double lot, comes complete with more than two dozen custom-made birdhouses–all of them occupied–around its exterior, including one near the front of the property that’s a replica of the home. Recently renovated, the house itself has something of the appearance of a well-maintained birdhouse–from its bubble-gum pink exterior paint, to its lime-green front steps, to the red banisters and window frames around its enclosed front porch. what’s inside: Ornate carved woodwork, a built-in library, a marble fireplace with wooden mantel and hardwood floors throughout the first floor. Every interior door has a crystal doorknob and its own skeleton key. BY THE NUMBERS: The house has four bedrooms and 2 1/2 baths. Broker: Re/Max (George Bell).
