I was disappointed and confused by Bob Verdi’s Feb. 10 column, “Just say no to the Olympic charade.” For him to suggest that the Olympics are largely staged for and funded by NBC, versus other “real sports” that are not, is unbelievable.

As a sports fan, I am supposed to watch the Super Bowl, March Madness, the World Series and these other “real” sports events but pass on the Olympics that date back centuries because they are “made for TV”? Who is Verdi kidding? . . . although I have always enjoyed his golf commentary.
