Donald E. Chase, 67, of Wheaton, the owner and president of Tempo Graphics in Carol Stream, died of heart failure Thursday, Feb. 14, in Central DuPage Hospital in Winfield. Born and raised in Anna, Ill., Mr. Chase served three years in the Marine Corps during the Korean War. He was based in Washington, D.C., where he worked on Leatherneck magazine, a publication about the Marines. Mr. Chase took his experience in publishing and went to work for Omega Press in Lombard as a printer. When that company went out of business in 1973, he founded his own, Tempo Graphics. He specialized in commercial printing, including direct-mail packages, and expanded his company over the years to 130 employees. “He had customers that went back 40 years,” said his brother, Mike. “He was kind and fair to everyone.” A 40-year resident of Wheaton, Mr. Chase served as president of Riverside Golf Club during the ’90s. Other survivors include his wife of 44 years, Harriett; daughters Cindy Czarnowski, Kim Carroll, Mary Beth Fitzgerald and Vicki; sons Tim and Richard; sisters Mary Ellen Coffman and Susan Nasser; and 10 grandchildren. Visitation will be from 2 to 7 p.m. Sunday in Williams-Kampp Funeral Home, 430 E. Roosevelt Rd., Wheaton. Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday in the funeral home.
