John “Jack” Larson Jr., age 77, of Winter, WI, died Saturday, Feb. 9, 2002 at the Rusk County Nursing Home in Ladysmith, WI. Jack Larson Jr. was born July 29, 1924 in Chicago, the son of John and Florence, nee Ellis, Larson. Jack enlisted in the Navy on June 23, 1943. He served aboard LST 139 during the invasion of Normandy. Jack was discharged Jan. 29, 1946. After his service in the Navy, Jack went to work for Pollock Paper Co. in Middletown, OH. In 1956, Jack met his wife, Norma Jean Hampton, who also worked for Pollock Paper. They were united in marriage on March 2, 1957. They would have been married 45 years next month. They retired in October of 1985 and moved to Winter, WI. They and their sons had spent many summers vacationing in the Winter area. Jack is survived by his wife, Norma “Jean”; four sons, Eric (Gail) of Wheaton, IL, Kurt (Gina) of Portland, OR, Keith (Dana) of Tallahassee, FL and Neil (Mayumi) of Round Lake Beach, IL; six grandchildren, Kurt Jr., Stephanie, Thomas, Melissa, Trent and Taylor; two sisters, Laverne Sanders of Waukesha, WI and Hester Harris of Portland, OR. He was preceded in death by his parents, Dr. John and Florence Larson; and one sister, Florence Heich. A private family service will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that memorials be directed to the American Diabetes Assn., Wisconsin Affiliate, 2949 North Mayfair Road, Wauwatosa, WI 53222. The Anderson-Nathan Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
