Martha J. Denning, late of Millbrae, CA, formerly of LaGrange, IL and St. Petersburg, FL, died peacefully Feb. 15, 2002 in Burlingame, CA, with her son, Richard, at her side. Before retirement Mrs. Denning was head of the research department at Michael Reese Hospital, where she and her team perfected the Salk polio vaccine. She is survived by her son, Richard Denning; grandson, Paul Denning; and daughter-in-law, Laura Denning.
