Bonnie H. FitzPatrick, 86, formerly of Palatine, was a longtime kindergarten teacher who taught at the Chicago Public Schools and Queen of All Saints School in Chicago. Mrs. FitzPatrick died Monday, Feb. 18, of diabetes in Maryhaven Nursing Home in Glenview. Mrs. FitzPatrick was born and raised in Chicago. She received a bachelor’s degree from Clark College in Dubuque, Iowa, in the late 1930s and began working for the Chicago Public Schools after college. She taught kindergarten until she married in 1956. Mrs. FitzPatrick returned to teaching after her husband, John P., died in 1970. She moved to Palatine in 1991 and to Glenview in 2001, where she lived in Maryhaven. Mrs. FitzPatrick was a “social butterfly” who enjoyed playing bridge and golf and being a member of women’s organizations, said her son Peter. “She was jovial, a big jokester and great with kids,” he said. Other survivors include a son, John T.; a brother, Thomas Hogan; and two grandchildren. A visitation will be from 3 to 9 p.m. Friday, followed by services at 10:30 a.m. Saturday in Smith-Corcoran Funeral Home, 6150 N. Cicero Ave., Chicago. A mass will be said at 11 a.m. Saturday in Queen of All Saints Basilica, 6280 Sauganash Ave., Chicago.
