Aren’t we scared?

Though the media don’t correlate the Enron debacle with the savings and loan rip-off, many of us do.

After the savings and loan debacle that the American taxpayer paid for, there was deregulation passed by Congress.

Corporate America is the main benefactor of deregulation.

Corporate America may need more rules and regulations, not fewer, in order to protect the average American.

Enron committed a monumental crime against the U.S. people.

So did the S&L perpetrators.

We the taxpayers paid for the S&L debacle.

I fear we may have to pay for Enron.

I fear immunity for the vice president.

(Is he president?)

I fear the loss of our civil rights.

I fear the growing federal deficit.

I fear that this administration will ask for more and more deregulation.

I fear the media, which remember the Monica Lewinsky scandal but not the savings and loan scandal.

I fear for the Enron shareholders.

And I fear that it will not be the Enron profiteers who will pay the shareholders back, but that I will.

I fear the media, which shape our views and which blame these crimes on campaign financing instead of just plain ordinary greed, crookedness and campaign contributions.

I fear the media are concentrating on campaign financing to spread the blame on both parties.

But if I gave $1,000 to one grandchild and a dime to the other one, which do you think would have the most influence?
