This is regarding “Italians take pope to task over divorce” (News, Jan. 30), which only confirms the ignorance of the 87.5 percent of people polled who claim to be Catholic but oppose the pope’s stand on divorce.
For the one woman in the article to state the pope should mind his own business is absurd. The Catholic Church is his business. He leads it.
As for people who oppose Catholic teachings but claim they’re Catholic, I was once enrolled in college but no longer attend, so should I still call myself a college student?
You are Catholic if you follow the church’s teachings. If you don’t, you’re not Catholic. It’s that simple!
