This is in response to Sam J. Schneider’s questions in “Spreading fear,” his Feb. 13 letter to the editor. He asked, “Aren’t we spending too much money on security and defense?” I suggest he pose those questions to families of the approximately 3,000 people murdered Sept. 11.
