Event: The Flower Firm’s five-year anniversary party at Union Station, Chicago–specifically, in the little-used luggage room, which was transformed via wallpaper and furniture into the clubby decor of the Sands Hotel Copa Room, circa 1961, the original Rat Pack’s hangout. Dress: Black-tie or vintage. Bar trending: The Cosmo is still No. 1; vodka mixed with the Red Bull energy drink runs a close second. Surprise guests, silent partners: Firm investor Joe Ahern, former GM at ABC-Ch.7 (now GM at the San Francisco affiliate), and wife Susan flew in to celebrate. Back at the Firm: The company supplies exquisite floral arrangements to hotels, parties and mega events, and does pro bono work. Floral note: Those enormous lobby arrangements at the Four Seasons are changed out every 72 hours, averaging 10,000 stems a week.
