James M. Patek, age 86, of Chicago, died February 23, 2002, husband of the late Elinor, nee Davern; father of Peg Lancioni; grandfather of Elizabeth (Karl), Christine (Akamu) and Jennifer (John); great-grandfather of Samantha, Kaili and Madison; brother of Rosemary (Bill) and Eileen (Bill). Graduate of St. Ignatius College Prep and DePaul University Law School where he also played and coached football. Lieutenant U.S. Navy aboard the Norman Scott Destroyer in the Pacific on seven campaigns. Awarded Purple Heart for injuries during the Tinian Invasion. He practiced law in Chicago for 60 years. Visitation Tuesday, 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., at Smith-Corcoran Funeral Home, 6150 N. Cicero Ave., followed by Mass at Queen of All Saints Basilica at 12 noon.
