John E. Matz, age 84, of Lansing, IL. Passed away on Saturday February 23, 2002. Survived by a son, Terry Matz; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Preceded in death by his wife, Rita, nee Brown. Funeral mass will be held on Thursday February 28, 2002 at 11 a.m. directly at St. Thomas More Church, Munster, IN. Interment Holy Cross Cemetery, Calumet City, IL. Friends may call at Schroeder-Lauer Funeral Home, 3227 Ridge Rd., Lansing, IL. on Wednesday 2 to 5 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Mr. Matz was a lifetime member of the Lansing Knights of Columbus #3540 and was a retired engineer for U.S. Steel Company.
