Vicente Barrera Jr., 51, of Granger, IN, Feb. 25, 2002, Vicente retired as a Federal Firefighter for 31 years at Grissom Air Force Base in Bunker Hill, IN, son of the late Vicente and Mary, nee Miranda, Barrera of Chicago, IL; beloved husband of Irene, nee Onderdonk; father of Alejandra Valentin of Chicago, Anthony E. and John J.; grandfather of Jenina Valentin; brother of Christin Santiago, Isabel Fregosa and Mario Barrera. His father and his brother Jose Barrera preceded Vicente in death. Mass 10 a.m., Friday, in St. Pius X Catholic Church in Granger. Cremation will follow. Visitation 3 to 8 p.m., Thursday, in the Hickey Funeral Home, 17131 Cleveland Road, 574-289-1000, vigil service at 5 p.m. Additional visitation will be from 9 a.m. until services Friday in the church.
